Langtang Lirung Expedition

We welcome all the enthusiast climbers to Nepal, the land of the Himalayas, and natural blessings. As you land at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, the Snowview Trek representatives will welcome you with warm hearts and great joy. After that, we will transfer you to the hotel which is around 30 minutes away from the airport.

We recommend the climbers take proper rest for the remaining day as you might be affected by jet lag. Moreover, once you feel fresh, you can also go for a short stroll around the city. In the evening, the Snowview Trek team invites you for the Welcome Dinner (authentic Nepali Khana set).

 

On the second day, we take the climbers for a quick yet detailed exploration of the Kathmandu Valley. We start by visiting the Pashupatinath temple and then visit many other significant places including Swayambhunath Stupa, Bouddhanath Stupa, Patan, and Basantapur Durbar Square. Other than that, we also dedicate this day to preparing for the entire Langtang Lirung Expedition package.

You will have a one-to-one expedition description from the professional Sherpa guides. This is also the day when we will hand over all the required permits and passes to the climbers before they begin the journey. After dinner, you will spend the night in the same hotel.

 

Today is the day when we begin our journey towards the climbing or trekking region (Langtang Valley). As you wake up, freshen up yourself, and have your breakfast in the hotel, our representatives will take you to the bus station. From there, we start on a drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche. It takes about 7 to 8 hours for the comfortable tourist bus from Kathmandu to Dhunche.

Starting from an urban settlement of Kathmandu, we follow many zig-zag paths across several traditional settlements, forests, waterfalls, streams, and such amazing scenes of nature. Along the hilly roads, we also go past a busy market in the Trishuli Bazaar. The road from Trishuli Bazaar to Dhunche is graveled and this is also the starting point of amazing views of different peaks including Manaslu Himal, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang Himalayan Range. Finally, we will reach the hotel in Dhunche after 7 to 8 hours of drive. We recommend you rest properly because we will be starting the trek the next day.

 

Today is the first walking day in the Langtang Lirung Expedition Package with Snowview Trek and we will be ascending from an altitude of 1966 meters to 2250 meters above sea level. This means that we will cover a total altitude of 284 meters. As the climbers get done with the breakfast in the hotel, the guides will lead you towards a dusty motor track. This trail takes us to Syabrubesi but before that, we will also reach a small village named Thulo Bharku. From here, we enter the trekking trail which gradually ascends towards the lush forest of oak and pine.

Getting some glimpses of the Ganesh Himal and entering some other settlements, this section of the Langtang Lirung Expedition route advances towards the ridge top of Thulo Syabru village. Here, the climbers will be welcomed by the lovely locals. Check-in at the hotel, store your bag pack, and then explore the village. We recommend the climbers interact with the locals to learn more about the area.

 

Another day brings another lovely and adventurous day in the Langtang Lirung Expedition as we will be ascending to Lama Hotel from Thulo Syabru on the fifth day. This section of the trail begins with a downhill to Langtang River and then turns towards the east towards a place named Bamboo. A little more to walk from Bamboo and we will be crossing the same river by a suspension bridge.

The next checkpoint of this day of the Langtang Lirung Expedition map, then, ascends to a village named Rimche. From there, we need to ascend a little bit more before descending towards the final checkpoint of the day, the Lama Hotel. It takes about 5 to 6 hours for the climbers to cover this section of the Langtang Lirung Expedition route and we reach the altitude of 2470 meters above sea level.

This is where we will spend the night after having dinner. Let us tell you that Lama Hotel is probably the best hotel in the Langtang trekking region.

 

On the sixth day, we will leave Lama Hotel and ascend towards the Langtang Village. This is one of the most beautiful villages in the Himalayas of Nepal, located at an altitude of 3430 meters above sea level. If we compare the Langtang Lirung expedition route with the Everest trekking route, Langtang Village and Namche Bazaar are almost at the same altitude level.

The trail from Lama Hotel enters into a dense forest filled with oaks, birch, hemlock, and mountain bamboo. We need to walk for about 5 to 6 hours to reach from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village. Also, remember that this is the perfect day to witness some animals including the wild monkeys and different birds. As we walk for a few hours, the trail stops by at a lone tea house in a place named Gumnachok. This is where the climbers will have to lunch and then ascend on a steep that leads to Ghortabela.

Ghortabela is where the climbers need to get their climbing passes and permits checked. After that, we walk for a couple of hours more, from Ghortabela to Chyamki, Kangtangsa, and finally, we reach the endpoint of the sixth day, the Langtang village. 

 

If you had a Langtang Valley Trekking journey, this would be the day to reach the second-highest altitude of the entire trekking route. Yes, as we have our breakfast in the Langtang Village, we follow a trail that goes for an easy climb through two Bhotia hamlets - Mundu and Sindum. Today the journey will be relatively short but full of adventures and adrenaline-rushing moments. Moreover, we also recommend the climbers to stay aware of altitude sickness from this part of the Langtang Lirung Expedition Package.

As we leave Langtang Village and advance towards the Kyangjin Gompa, great views of Langtang Lirung, Ganchenpo, and Langshisa Ri accompany us as if they are encouraging the climbers. A few more hours to hike before we reach the top of the terminal moraine of the Lirung Glacier before walking on the downhill path to reach the Kyangjin Gompa.

 

Today is the day when the trekkers will sit back to adapt to the temperature, climate, and oxygen level at the higher altitudes. However, that does not mean that the trekkers will sit idle throughout the day. Instead, we encourage all the climbers to go for a short hike to the Tsergo Ri (4985 meters) to understand the oxygen level and physical strain at the higher altitude. It would not be a long hike but believe us, this hike helps a lot for the preparation of the actual expedition journey above the base camp.

Return to the hotel by the evening after completing the hike and also exploring some other areas of the Kyangjin Gompa. The hotel serves you with delicious dinner before you head to your room to sleep.

 

It's the base camp day! Just a 4 to 5 hours of walking journey in the rugged and difficult section of the route and the climbers will find themselves strolling on the base camp of the Langtang Lirung Peak. This section of the route is certainly very difficult in comparison to all the other sections that you have ascended through. As you reach the base camp, our professional Sherpa crew will prepare a base camp tent for you to have dinner and spend the night.

Take your time to stroll around the base camp, and talk to other climbers and you might also meet some climbers returning after the Langtang Luring Peak Expedition. Talking to them helps you understand the latest opportunities, conditions, and trail situation before you ascend higher than the base camp.

 

22 days climbing toward Mt. Langtang Lirung  Tented Camp

On the tenth day, we begin the ascend to the peak of the Langtang Lirung mountain. Remember that we do not go directly to begin the ascend towards Camp II and others. Besides, for a couple of days, the Sherpa guides will take you from the Base Camp to Camp I and return to the base camp. This is done to prepare for the higher ascend and to check whether all the climbers are in perfect condition for the peak expedition or not.

The Sherpa guides will set up tents and prepare dinner for the climbers to stay during the ascend. As we ascend higher and higher, the snow layer gets thicker and the oxygen level gets lighter. Due to that reason, the journey becomes more and more physically straining. However, the Sherpa crews make all the required arrangements, including training the climbers, and checking their health status every day, Besides, as the climbers ascend, they will also set up the stairs, fix the ropes, and forecast the weather every day before resuming the trail.

It takes us 22 days to reach the top of the Langtang Lirung Peak (7234 meters) and return to the base camp. Trekkers need to compromise on food and accommodation. However, the Sherpa crew will try their best to prepare the best food throughout this ascend and descend.

 

As we have explored the summit of the Langtang Lirung peak and returned to base camp, it's time for us to descend even further. On day 32, the climbers descend from base camp to Lama Hotel. As we are on a descending journey, the walk will not be very difficult. Within the next 5 to 6 hours we will reach Lama Hotel. Take your time to rest for the night before we head lower towards Kathmandu.

 

It's the last day of walking in the Langtang Lirung Expedition route and on this day we will descend to Syabrubesi from Lama Hotel. The walk begins as the trekkers have their breakfast. The trail passes through several traditional villages, terraced farmlands, settlements, and dense forests. Furthermore, you will also get chances to witness rhododendron, oak, and pine forests throughout this section of the Langtang Lirung Expedition map.

It takes about 5 to 6 hours for any average climber or trekker to cover this part of the route. As you reach Syabrubesi, our guides will take you to the hotel where you can take proper rest. Moreover, we also recommend the trekkers to stroll around the village and interact with the locals.

In the evening, we also invite the climbers for a celebration and dinner. As this is the last dinner in the Langtang trekking region so, enjoy as much as you can. After that, you can go for a comfortable and cozy sleep in the hotel or guesthouse in Syabrubesi

 

Finally, we will return to Kathmandu after such a long walk in the Langtang region. As you take the breakfast in the hotel, the guides lead you to the bus station. From there, you will board the bus and drive back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, the climbers can finally rest in a comfortable and cozy-star hotel arranged by Snowview Trek.

You can also explore the city and try some locally prepared delicacies while you are in Kathmandu for the last day. Dinner and overnight stay will be arranged by Snowview for the day. Also, we invite you for a farewell dinner along with a certification ceremony. Take your time to provide us with some valuable feedback before returning to your home.

 

On the 35th day, you will have breakfast in the hotel early in the morning. Well, it's the day when the climbers will return home with a heart full of adventures and memories full of experiences. Our representatives
